  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast Look for fresh and plump pieces for the best flavor.
  • 1 packet taco seasoning Feel free to make your own blend with chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, and paprika.
  • 8 pieces taco shells Choose soft or crunchy based on preference.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar for classic taste or pepper jack for a spicy kick.
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded For fresh crunch.
  • 1 cup tomatoes, diced Adds freshness and color.
  • to taste Sour cream Optional topping.
  • to taste Salsa Optional topping.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the chicken breast until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes per side.
  3. Remove the chicken from the skillet and shred it using two forks.
  4. Mix the shredded chicken with the taco seasoning until well coated.
  5. Arrange the taco shells in a baking dish, standing them upright or laying them flat.
  6. Fill each shell with the seasoned chicken, then sprinkle shredded cheese generously on top.
Cooking
  1. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  2. Serve hot, topped with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a dollop of sour cream or salsa if desired.

Notes

For extra cheesy tacos, add more cheese after the initial baking and return to the oven for an additional 2 minutes. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
