  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Use Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs for added flavor.
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese Grate your own for better melting and flavor.
  • 1 cup marinara sauce Homemade sauce elevates the dish, but store-bought works well.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour For dredging the chicken.
  • 2 pieces eggs Beaten for coating the chicken.
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • for garnish Fresh basil Optional, for garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a shallow bowl, combine breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese.
  3. Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  4. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, then dip in beaten eggs, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture evenly.
  5. Place the breaded chicken breasts on a baking sheet.
Cooking
  1. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and golden brown.
  2. Remove from the oven and top each breast with marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese.
  3. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  4. Garnish with fresh basil if desired and serve hot.

Notes

Consider brining the chicken before cooking for better moisture. Serve with spaghetti for a traditional Italian twist.
