Ingredients
  

For the Chicken Marinade
  • 2 pieces chicken breasts, cut into strips Fresh chicken is always best; thighs can add more flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon, juiced Use freshly squeezed juice for best flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil Extra virgin olive oil is recommended for richer taste.
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin Use whole spices and grind for the freshest flavor if possible.
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
For Assembly
  • 4 pieces pita bread
  • 1 cup hummus
  • 1 cup tzatziki sauce
  • 2 cups vegetable salad (e.g., lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, onion)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine lemon juice, olive oil, cumin, paprika, turmeric, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Whisk together until well blended.
  2. Add the chicken strips to the marinade and ensure they are fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your grill or stovetop cast-iron skillet to medium-high heat.
  2. Cook the marinated chicken strips for about 6-7 minutes on each side or until cooked through.
  3. Remove the chicken from the grill and allow to cool slightly before slicing into bite-sized pieces.
Assembly
  1. Spread a generous layer of hummus and tzatziki sauce on each pita.
  2. Top the pita with sliced chicken and a vegetable salad.
  3. Roll up the pita tightly and serve immediately while warm.

Notes

Marinate chicken longer for deeper flavors. Use fresh ingredients for the best taste.
