Preparation
- Place the chicken breasts in the slow cooker in a single layer.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the gravy mix with water, stirring until completely dissolved.
- Pour the gravy mixture over the chicken, then add the sliced onion on top, spreading it evenly.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Cooking
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for 4-5 hours until chicken is tender and falling apart.
- Once cooked, shred the chicken right in the gravy and stir to coat every piece.
Serving
- Serve the comforting chicken and gravy over your choice of mashed potatoes, rice, or warm biscuits.
Notes
Ensure chicken is thawed for even cooking. Low and slow cooking results in tender chicken. Can double the recipe for crowds. Leftovers can be frozen for up to three months.
