Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb lean ground beef (browned and drained) Use lean cuts for a healthier option
  • 1 cup uncooked macaroni (cooked al dente) Cooking it al dente ensures it retains its texture in the slow cooker
  • 15 oz can mild chili beans (undrained) Adds richness and protein
  • 10.5 oz can diced tomatoes with green chiles (drained) Provides a hint of heat and vibrant color
  • 1.5 teaspoon chili powder Adjust to spice preference
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese Use good-quality cheese for best results

Method

Preparation
  1. Mix together all your ingredients, except your shredded cheddar cheese, in a 4-quart slow cooker until well combined.
  2. Sprinkle your cheese evenly across the top.
  3. Cover and cook on low for about 120 minutes (2 hours) or high for 90 minutes (1.5 hours), turning your insert halfway through if your slow cooker does not cook evenly.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container. Reheat with a splash of water or milk to regain creamy texture. This dish freezes well.
