Ingredients
Method
Preparation
- Season the chicken with garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and paprika.
- In the crockpot, combine chicken broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and hoisin sauce. Add the seasoned chicken and toss to coat thoroughly.
Cooking
- Cover and cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours or HIGH for 2 to 3 hours, until the chicken is tender.
- Remove 1/4 cup of sauce from the crockpot, and mix it with the cornstarch until smooth. Pour it back into the crockpot and stir to combine for a thicker sauce.
- Add the broccoli on top of the chicken mixture, cover, and cook on HIGH for an additional 20 minutes, until the sauce thickens and the broccoli becomes tender-crisp.
Serving
- Serve hot over rice, noodles, or cauliflower rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
Notes
To save time, prepare the chicken and sauce ahead of time and refrigerate. This dish can be made vegan by substituting chicken with firm tofu.
