Homemade Egg Rolls

Ingredients
  

For the filling
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage Can use napa or green cabbage based on preference.
  • 1 cup shredded carrots Grate finely for better distribution.
  • 1 cup cooked and shredded meat (chicken, turkey, or shrimp) Chicken or turkey keeps it halal friendly.
  • 2 each green onions, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Tamari can be used for gluten-free.
  • 1 package egg roll wraps Keep them refrigerated until use.
  • as needed Oil for frying Neutral oil with a high smoke point recommended.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine cabbage, carrots, meat, green onions, garlic, ginger, and soy sauce. Mix well.
  2. Lay an egg roll wrap on a flat surface with a corner pointing towards you. Place a spoonful of the filling at the center.
  3. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the side corners. Roll tightly towards the remaining corner and seal with a dab of water.
Cooking
  1. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Fry the egg rolls until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
  2. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Notes

Egg rolls can be made in advance and frozen. Fry from frozen and adjust cooking time as necessary. Offer various dipping sauces for a more enjoyable experience.
