Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 pieces chicken breasts Look for fresh, plump chicken breasts; frozen ones can work too, just ensure they’re fully thawed.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Use extra virgin olive oil for a richer taste.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Ideal for a punch of flavor without the hassle of peeling and mincing fresh garlic.
  • 1 teaspoon paprika For color and mild sweetness; smoked paprika can add extra kick.
  • to taste salt Opt for kosher salt for easier control.
  • to taste pepper Essential seasonings to bring out the chicken's natural flavor.
  • Fresh herbs for garnish (optional) Use parsley or basil to enhance flavor and presentation.

Method

Cooking Directions
  1. Start by seasoning both sides of the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
  3. Carefully place the seasoned chicken breasts in the hot pan.
  4. Cook the chicken for approximately 5-7 minutes without moving it to develop a golden-brown crust on one side.
  5. Flip the chicken and continue cooking for another 5-7 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  6. Once done, remove the chicken from the pan and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing to retain its juiciness.
  7. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

You can prep the chicken a day in advance. Store it in the refrigerator. Cooked chicken can be frozen for up to three months. Always let the pan come to temperature before adding the chicken for a perfect sear.
