Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 lbs cubed steak Look for well-marbled meat for the best results.
  • 4 large potatoes, sliced Yukon Gold or russets work well for creaminess.
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese Shredded varieties melt beautifully; consider smoky cheddar for added flavor.
  • 1 cup beef broth Use low-sodium for better control over seasoning.
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste Adjust to your preference.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder For aromatic base seasoning.

Method

Preparation
  1. Layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom of your slow cooker.
  2. Season gently with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Add half of the cubed steak and half of the sliced onions evenly.
  4. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese over the first layer.
  5. Repeat the layering with the remaining ingredients, finishing with the last portion of cheese on top.
  6. Pour the beef broth evenly over the ingredients.
  7. Cover and set the slow cooker on low heat for 7-8 hours.
  8. Once cooked, stir gently and serve warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, sear the cubed steak before adding to the slow cooker. Adjust cooking times based on your slow cooker's intensity.
